After organising your wedding, it is time to arrange the little details – namely, the wedding rings!
Up there with your wedding dress, your wedding band is just as important. It is a cherished belonging you will wear every day from the ceremony onwards. You’ll definitely want a design that complements your engagement ring.
In addition to our collection of men’s wedding rings, we offer a wide range of women’s wedding bands that varies in styles and metal choices. This means we have an assortment of designs that will guarantee a band that will fit the style of your engagement ring. But how can you pick the right wedding ring?
This is where our experienced team comes in! Keep reading to see how you can pick a wedding band to compliment your engagement ring.
Consider the metal colour
When it comes to choosing the right wedding band for your engagement ring, you’ll want to ensure you get the most obvious part right – the metal colour.
Traditionally, you’ll want both designs to share the same metal colour for a flawless pairing. This will help emphasise the illusion that they are a matching set, two parts to one whole. It also allows you to achieve an aesthetically pleasing set.
If you have a duo-tone engagement ring, you have even more choice. You could opt for the predominant metal, the featured metal, or you can carry the duo-toned theme to your wedding band. It’s popular for the modern bride to have the band one colour while the claws are another, carrying over a patterned theme from one ring to the other.
Alternatively, you can mix-match entirely if you are going for a distinct pairing and opt for a different metal to the engagement ring.
Review the band of your engagement ring
Following the colour, you should also review the band style of your engagement ring. Depending on the design, you’ll want to base your wedding band choice on features your original ring displays.
If you want a flush pairing, you’ll want the band of your wedding ring to mirror your engagement band’s structure.
For example, if the engagement ring has a pinch, you’ll require a wedding band with a pinched design. If you don’t mind a distinctive difference, you could go for a standard eternity design to allow the engagement ring to stand out.
In addition to the structure, look at the stones used on the band detailing. You could go for the same style by matching the stones or a plain style. You can also challenge it by going for the opposite colour of the band stones.
For example, if you have a plain band used for your engagement ring, you may want to shake it up by introducing stones with one of our diamond wedding bands to create a contrast between the two.
Analyse the stone and diamond cut
Finally, we also suggest you have a look at the main stone used in your engagement ring. It would help if you also looked at the diamond cut it showcases.
If you have a coloured diamond or a gemstone such as a sapphire or emerald, you may want to incorporate the same into your wedding band. This will keep a cohesive look while making it seem more compatible. For differentiation that acknowledges the stone, you could also choose a mix of stones in your wedding band.
As for diamonds, it is always complementary to have the same diamond cuts from the engagement ring used in the wedding band. This will allow them to be compatible with one another simultaneously.
Please note, if you have a lengthier diamond, such as an oval cut, you may want to consider a wedding band that pinches. This will allow the band to divert around the centre stone to avoid clashing.
