2024 engagement ring predictions
January 4, 2024 • 3 min read
New year, new popular styles! As 2024 begins, it is expected to see new styles emerge. Ever evolving, engagement ring trends always change from year to year.
At Midas Jewellery, we are proud to be one of the leading jewellers in Sydney. Despite there being plenty of styles on the market, our speciality in engagement rings gives us a good insight into predicting which styles will be popular over the next year. We think this year will bring a mix of new looks and a throwback to older styles.
Find which engagement ring styles we predict will be popular in 2024 below.
Vintage designs
As they say, trends always tend to come back in fashion. Older fashion styles have recently been revisited and shared with the modern era. It is time for older engagement rings to reemerge. This 2024, we expect to see a rise in vintage-inspired designs.
Think designs from previous decades – Art Deco, Edwardian, Victorian. From designs that embrace geometry to flower patterns and coloured gemstones, there will be a surge in older designs.
In line with the vintage trend, we also may see heirloom engagement rings passed down and reused or altered to have a mix of retro and modern elements.
Horizontal cut (East-West setting)
Already in the spotlight, the horizontal cut, also known as the East-West setting, will continue rising in popularity this year. Stylish and modern, this orientation features the gemstone placed horizontally.
It provides a new look that hasn’t yet been touched, embracing a modern elegance. It is also an eye-catching statement.
This style suits longer diamond cuts, including the emerald cut and oval.
Two band designs
It is predicted that couples will stray from the standard single band this year, instead opting for a double band design. Different and unique, dual bands offer a refreshing alternative to the expected and traditional singular bands. It alludes to a floating stone suspended between the two bands, adding to the impact it provides.
Considered contemporary, it also alludes to a stacked ring aesthetic, a current trend many desire. Many also favoured it as it creates a thicker style, with the two bands positioned with a gap between them. This complements those who want a broader design to balance their fingers.
Furthermore, two bands can provide a practical element, delivering a more stable structure. This is a considerable addition for large stones.
Does one of these new styles appeal to you? If you plan to propose this upcoming year, one of these predicted styles might make the perfect ring for you and your partner.
