The guys’ guide to getting her an engagement ring that fits
March 29, 2019 • 3 min read
This blog is one for the guys! If you’re reading this, you are more than likely planning to propose to that special person in your life, so congratulations! Recently we have discussed ways for your partner to drop hints, so of course, this would be the next step.
Buying an engagement ring can be a daunting experience especially because it is such a big investment. You’ll want to buy a ring that she adores and most importantly, fits her.
Lost on how to accomplish the last requirement? Don’t stress! Keep reading to find out how you can ensure you buy a ring that fits.
Borrow one of her rings
An obvious tip is to borrow one of her rings. However, you can’t just borrow any ring. For example, if your partner wears a ring on her pinkie, obviously, this won’t fit on her ring finger! So, it is important to pay attention to which finger she wears that ring on. If she wears one on her ring finger already, you’re in luck! This will be the perfect indication of what size you’ll need for an engagement ring.
If she religiously wears this ring, don’t worry. Simply wait until she is in the shower and trace a copy of the size on a piece of paper. This won’t be as convenient, but it will still give your jeweller a good idea of what ring size your engagement ring should be.
Bring friends into it
If you have any friends that are engaged, use their ring! Organise them to somehow get your partner to try the ring on to see if it will fit. If it doesn’t fit perfectly, you can take a little bit of a guess depending on how much bigger and smaller it is.
Another way to use friends or family is to get them to take your partner to try on engagement rings next time they have a shopping trip. This one might be a bit more obvious but if the shopping partner is single or just spontaneous then you could probably pull it off. Ask them to let you know what size and even style they like so you know exactly what ring will get your partner to say yes.
If all else fails…
If you can’t do the above, you could always propose first and get the ring after! Getting a temporary ring with the romantic proposal she already dreamt of can allow her to choose her ring. This will ensure the ring will fit and she can choose the ring she truly adores. Make sure you come to one of our Midas Jewellery stores in Sydney so your partner can design the ring of her dreams.
But if you do get the wrong size, don’t stress. Luckily, when buying with Midas Jewellery, getting the wrong size won’t have a negative impact on your proposal. We are happy to exchange the ring within seven days of purchasing if it is in the same condition as purchased and has the receipt.
This means if you fit the above, you’ll be able to exchange for the right size or select another one of our delicate diamond engagement rings!
