Adding colour to your engagement ring

Looking for the perfect engagement ring but just can’t seem to find that dream design?

Being a representation of your love and commitment, engagement rings are a significant part of one’s relationship.

However, the rings don’t just have a symbolic role in the bond you have with your partner – they are also a reflection of your character! And one of the best ways to portray your personal style is through the addition of colour.

When it comes to engagement rings, we have one of the most extensive collections in Sydney. By housing such a wide variety, we know exactly what colour can do to a design. If you want to add some character into your ring and make it as original as your personality, we recommend looking into colourful features you could incorporate into your engagement ring.

From the band to the centre stone, have a look below to see how you could make your dream ring a little bit more you.

Different metals you can use for an engagement ring

When it comes to engagement rings, the entire design doesn’t have to be one plain colour. As much as a white gold ring can be a classic favoured by many, some others want to shake it up a little more.

If you are looking to add some colour, we would recommend looking into a yellow or rose gold metal. Both providing colour, these elegant options can add the splash of colour you desire while still being subtle and not over the top.

Do you want more than just one metal? Be our guest! Duo-tone metals can create a stunning engagement ring design! And it doesn’t need to stop there – we also offer duo-toned designs in both men’s and women’s wedding rings if you want to continue the style into your wedding ceremony.

An exemplary piece from our collection of coloured metal engagement rings is the Princess Cut Diamond Split Band in Rose Gold. It is an elegant ring fit for any princess. A modern style icon, this rose gold design features a channel set row of diamonds along the split band, leading up to the radiant princess cut diamond in the centre. The white diamonds, paired with the rose gold colouring, makes a decadent combination no one could resist!

Using coloured stones as the main stone

While using different metals can be an effective way of adding colour to your engagement ring, there is nothing stronger than substituting the expected white diamond for a coloured stone.

By having a coloured diamond or gem in the centre, you would be opting for a vibrant design that is sure to turn heads and catch eyes. At Midas Jewellery, we are proud to offer a distinct collection of engagement rings that feature a coloured stone in the centre of the design.

After something refined yet bold? Our decadent range of sapphire engagement rings will be sure to deliver you the confident, elegant character you desire. Prefer something a little brighter? If striking was what you are after, then our yellow diamond collection can give you just that.

A great example of the power a sapphire can have on an engagement ring design includes the Vintage Milgrain Oval Sapphire. Set in 18ct white gold, the oval royal blue sapphire radiates, leaving a striking statement. Paired alongside a decadent white diamond halo and milgrain detailing, there is no better way to voice your style than through a ring like this one.

Subtle coloured features in engagement rings

Still like the idea of having colour in your ring, but not as the focal point? Why not opt for a subtle colourful feature! If you want to maintain a mostly traditional design with the slightest hint of colour, then we recommend you look into using coloured stones in the form of a halo or side stones.

Furthermore, you can also use a different metal in minor details of your design. By maintaining your expected yellow or white gold band, you can create a unique speck of colour through introducing a rose gold aspect into the halo (or yellow gold for white designs and vice versa).

A great example of subtle colouring is found in our Marquise Diamond with Brilliant Halo. Although it maintains white gold through the majority of the design, the inner halo framing the marquise cut diamond is an enchanting rose gold. With brilliant white diamonds on both the halos and along the band, the slight coloured feature is a unique way to break up the white vibrance.
