Celebrity engagements of 2022

What a year 2022 has been! In addition to our Midas Jewellery engagements, we saw several notable couples announce their engagements this year.

Exciting times, we love hearing about celebrity proposals! Most of all, we love exploring the different diamond engagement rings spotted in each proposal – or if they go for a diamond at all!
Below we recap just some of the celebrities who announced their engagement in 2022.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

Proposing for the second time, Ben Affleck popped the question to Jennifer Lopez earlier this year in April. She shared the details via her newsletter ‘On The JLo’. The singer shared details of the proposal that took place during an intimate bubble bath at home.

Going for his partner’s lucky colour, Affleck proposed with a unique green diamond engagement ring in a three-stone setting. The ring features a square-shaped bright green stone dominating the middle, accompanied by trapezoid diamonds on either side. It is truly one-of-a-kind!

Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino

Already coming off a high from multiple roles in hit TV shows, Sydney Sweeney topped 2022 with an engagement to her long-time partner, Jonathan Davino. Keeping their relationship private, little is known about their proposal except it was confirmed earlier in the year.

The Euphoria and White Lotus actress was seen sporting her new rock whilst out and about. It appears Davino proposed to the blonde beauty with a dazzling round brilliant diamond design. A true classic for the gorgeous leading lady in his life!

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox

Starting the year with a bang, Machine Gun Kelly got down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend Megan Kelly back in January. Held in a romantic garden where the couple first met at the Ritz-Carlton in Puerto Rico, the couple broke the big news the following day on Instagram.

The singer created an extraordinary ring for the gorgeous actress, designing a ring that can be worn as two. Representing two halves of the same stone, it features their individual birthstones, an emerald and diamond, on bands of thorns that can be pulled apart, drawing together as one to make an obscure heart. Gorgeous and meaningful!

Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton

Two co-stars who fell in love – that is the tale of Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton’s love story. Sparking engagement rumours when they walked the red carpet at the 2022 BAFTAs with a large diamond ring, the couple later confirmed their engagement.

The Loki star proposed to the Handmaid’s Tale actress with a stunning vintage diamond design. Displaying an Edwardian cut, the main diamond is surrounded by a halo of pavé diamonds, giving Ashton’s ring plenty of sparkle. A true classic!

Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge

Proposing during a tropical getaway in April, music executive Elliot Grainge popped the question to model Sofia Richie. In a romantic set-up surrounded by flowers and candles, Grainge got down on one knee within the grounds of the Four Seasons Hualalai.

The ring itself is a breathtaking emerald-cut diamond ring. Extravagant in size, the stone provides a gorgeous contrast to the dainty yellow-gold band. With a remarkable design, this ring is nothing short of glamorous!
